Michael Petro attended Flower Mound High School in Texas. He continued his career at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), breaking out as the Roadrunners' primary place-kicker. During his stellar 2025 campaign, he scored a team-high 107 points by converting 17 of 20 field goals and a perfect 56-for-56 on extra points, which included a school-record eight PATs in a single game.
